Just announced is the news that the Steamworks development kit is now available for PC game developers.
The Official Steamworks SDK includes a fully functional API for all the components offered in Steamworks. Available now to developers and publishers worldwide, the SDK also includes a multiplayer game example to demonstrate many of the features in action. In addition, the Steamworks partner web site (http://partner.steamgames.com) has been updated with documentation outlining the ease of use of the API, authoring and editing of achievements, gameplay statistics, and more.
The Steamworks suite gives developers access to a number of tools, including auto-updating, key authentication, copy protections, anti-cheat, and a social community.

More information on Steamworks can be found at the Steamworks partner page.

I've known about this since the GDC in San Francisco. It's actually very cool. And it's all free... unless you want to have people pay for your game, then you play valve a fee.

It was good. They did a presentation in the small booth that they had (bigger then most though). I saw Doug Lombardi and Gabe Newell. They walked by me. O_O

I also got to talk to the Portal lead designer and one of the programmers from the original Team Fortress.

Wow, that's awesome- perhaps I can have a couple of my games on Steam? I am completing a Senior Project, and that would be awesome to be able to let people play my game, Platform: Revamped. I feel that it'll be a continuous project, since I feel that I can always improve/push the game to new limits.
