CSPromod Nerfs Bunnyhopping
Zips @
9:39 pm pdt on 3/21/08 - mods & editing
CSPromod has given their community a little status update for an upcoming release. A major point to note here? The fact that they have no essentially nerfed bunnyhopping in the game. This was done after a "landing penalty" was added for jumping. They also discuss their immediate goals for the mod.
As CSPromod gradually matures into a product that is ready for professional tournament use, it is important that we as developers take the time to refine the visual aspects of the game. On that note, we've added a CS 1.6 style weapon bob and corrected various issues with muzzleflashes. Also, the main game menus have been reworked to fix a few miscellaneous binding bugs and to add new options.Yes, professional tournament use. Go on, tell us what you're thinking in our comment section here. I've already stated my thoughts on the mod before. You know where I stand on this mod.

STOP TRYING! You basically have 1.6 on the Source engine... looking exactly like 1.6 on gldsrc! PLAY 1.6 IF YOU WANT THAT TYPE OF GAMEPLAY! That is all. |

Just what I always wanted, Counter-Strike 1.6, but buggy and on a different engine. I can't wait to play this profesionally. |

it shouldn't look like 1.6 this is right! but for example the shape of the models and their moving look better in 1.6 but this is a minor problem of cs:s. the main and correct reason for developing such a mod are anti-competetive elements in cs.s as for example the crappy netcode and much other things named and clearly stated by the promod team and most professional counterstrike players. they have to bring it on the new source engine to get the better netcode tf2 is already taking benefit of. |

1.6 still plays better and is already more suitable for competitive use. So the point of this mod is...? |

the aim of this mod is to bring a new update to CS 1.6 ( CS 1.7 ) something exactly the same but on another engine : more beautiful ! cs:s is completily another game... so It's not 1.6 more beautiful, i hope i made myself understand :F |

Edited by Sintra @ 7:15 am pdt on 3/22/08 lolz But there is bunny hopping in 1.6. And there's silent walking! I thought this was trying to port 1.6 to source. Or is this "nerf" about the slow down one gets after jumping? EDIT: it is. lol Any decent bunny hopper is unaffected. It's like 1.3 to 1.5 all over again. |

Fuck, I like the idea tbh, give me 1.6 on source, with source graphics, add in the small improvements cspromod made, and I'll play. |

If there's one thing that's certain, hardcore cs players are the bitchiest whiners ever that are impossible to please. Nice to make a mod for the people, but the creator's in for rude awakening when something is decided to be changed ever so slightly. |

I have some hope to this group. I am honestly looking for a CS 1.6: Source. Hahaha. I'm not a fan of the new maps or the crosshair. In fact I haven't touch CSS in over close 2 months plus? Ehh. Maybe I just lost the taste of playing games. |

It does matter if the hosts want the game to be viewed on TV or the like, since non-regular players/viewers might keep their attention if the graphics look good. But that hardly happens, so 1.6 still rules. |

displayroxs wrote..In all honesty, the news post was NOT biased, while his comment after the post was, which is perfectly acceptable, comment sections are for opinion, the news post is for non-biased news posting, which is exactly what happened. To be honest I agree with zips' opinion, but I ditched CS and CSS long ago, I only had time to pub and the lack of full rotation no weapon restriction, no gameplay modifier plugin pub servers drove me away from the game. So now I'm playing TF2 more...but that's another story for another time. Anyway, back to the point, the news post was not biased. |

Edited by FlyingMongoose @ 4:06 am pdt on 3/24/08 Zips wrote..I agree, however I also agree with the stand point that a news source should be credible and non-biased which I always felt CSNation was, but you merely stated that most of us already know your opinion on it (which I share), you never stated that it was the opinion of CSNation or the rest of it's staff...I was merely pointing out the err in the comment I quoted. I was pointing out that your news post was unbiased. |

I think it's professional not to state your opinion on the news piece. But in the comments section everything goes. If you go see other websites, whoever wrote the article usually adds their opinion, or the whole article is his opinion on some subject, so I certainly think Zips is very much unbiased. |
