Watch some 360 Players Play TF2
Zips @ 8:28 pm pdt on 3/14/08 - movies & stories
If you have only experienced TF2 on the PC, you might have been curious as to what it's like to play it on the 360. Alright, maybe not, but there's still going to be a video posted here either way.

Oh, and if you want to listen to commentators that have never, ever played Team Fortress 2 before, you're in luck! The mute button might be necessary here. Hit the jump for the horror, courtesy of Gamespot!

It's funny because they're just as bad commentating on any game. Gamespot tournaments are a joke in most ways. The only redeeming part is seeing a variety of games, and Button Mashing is better fit for that most of the time. It still surprises me how little they know of a game even though it's obvious they've played it. They could have picked random folks off the street that at least heard of the game and possibly had more interesting commentating.

lol, agree. Yeah they're like "Ohh Ohh... A solider getting the intel... Not a scout." Was boring, but interesting to watch... Mute the comments watch the video ;).

I actually think the video was almost equally pathetic. We're talking about a game with deathmatch (over the top non-realistic weapons and movement) gameplay being played with joystick movement. I'm tired of seeing FPS games being played competitively on consoles. (note, I love seeing games good on console being played competitively on consoles... like racing or fighting games)

Oh, and I hate how they insist on going third person for everything in Gamespot tournaments. CGS does the same thing for CSS, but they're actually getting quite good at covering the content that way and have even implemented picture-in-picture for the times they want to use first person. (they don't use first person specifically in CSS because flashes blind the spectators too)

I watched about 7 minutes of the video. The commentators had no clue what they were talking about. 1st the guy has the enemys inteligence and he runs back into his spawn to get health and they thought it was a cap. Then they start asking is the intelligence on the ground cause they dont know what the house symbol means. Then they called the dispenser a health restoration machine. Thats when I turned it off.

Just goes to show how nerdy this place is, do you really want to see a nerdy camera shy kid talk about how much damage each rocket is doing?
i guess its because i hate TF2 but i actually enjoyed watching this tournament final.
People who have an affection for a game seem to watch tournaments because of the game, whereas a gamespot tournament is a feature anyone can watch despite the game and still enjoy and understand it, i enjoy counter strike but i hate tournaments because of how cs focused they are, i don't like forza 2 but the gs tourny was fun to watch.

I'd rather have commentators for tom clancy's vegas shouting "THAT GUY'S CRAZY, HE JUST BLEW HIS HEAD CLEAN OFF!!! WOOAOAAH"
compared to "see vegasmentor69 has positioned himself in a really good spot for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

Except that... GS tournaments have announcers that are feeding the viewers the wrong information, thus giving a very wrong impression of the game.

Oh my...having broadcasted TF2 and many other games myself, I can vouch for this being the worst Ive ever heard. These were the type of people we didn't give a second interview to...

Good commentators give you both of those angles, and meld them together seamlessly.

Saying how the one soldier capped the Intel when he ran into his spawn and dropped it, among other things that were borderline retarded. Not always necessarily wrong, but just painful to listen to, especially when it came to strategy decisions made by the players that they felt were "wrong."

seems commentators arn't allowed opinions anymore, and i hardly think mistakingly saying captured instead of dropped is game breaking.
