HE Grenade
Half-Pint: Fire in the hole! These are probably one of the most effective and yet underused weapons in the arsenal of a CS player. As far as I'm concerned I try to buy one every round I play. It goes around corners, through walls and can even go down stairs : A lot of people don't seem to use it and I imagine it's because they don't see a lot of kills with them. In CS grenades may be like popcorn but they can be used to kill off damaged targets that retreated around a corner or to soften up the target before you get in there. Think of it as a weapon that combos with whatever weapon you are using. You shoot the stuffing out of him and when he goes around the corner, don't reload but instead toss a nade.

rizzuh: A good grenade, surely the one most would opt to buy. Most players are used to grenades and will go and shoot you while you're priming like a moron in the center of the map. My advice is to hide while priming and then get a good blast in. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that an HE Grenade will take out plenty of people because it's actually pretty powerful and has the largest blast radius of all the other weapons, which are hit scan.

Half-Pint: Well duh, it's the only weapon with a blast radius. I would say I disagree with your comment about everyone using them, at least in public servers. I find that on every game there are at least 50% of the players that use them frequently. But in my mind it seems like players either use HE all the time or hardly ever.

rizzuh: Apparently you're off feasting with your family and friends for the first minute of each round. The sad fact is most players who use the HE grenade, and a lot do, rid of them at the start of the round. That's just silly. HE grenades are not deterrents. Use them to kill people, not scare people. Save them until you need them. It's a hard practice to follow, but it's smarter.

Half-Pint: If grenades are thrown in rapid succession they can be used as a deterrent. Three HE grenades are likely to take out the lead rushers or cripple them to the point that your opening attacks turn them into meatloaf. You are generally right, good players wait for that opening bombardment to end and then engage. I like to hang on to my HE grenades and use them on crippled opponents that have dodged around corners etc. Hey Rizzuh, what's your take on the air burst? I have heard that HE grenades that air burst over targets are more likely to get a headshot and inflict more damage but I'm not sure about whether location damage is used with HE grenades. I would think if a HE grenade went off next to you its blast radius would technically hit you in the head anyways.

rizzuh: Headshots with an HE Grenade are possible, as the blast simple travels perpendicular to the grenade's position. As for blasting it in air, I don't watch a lot of porn. Freak.

Combat Knife
Half-Pint: Ah, the combat knife, always a favorite. There's nothing like your first knife kill. It's the cheapest weapon available since it's free. So no matter how badly you are doing, you always have it. The only question is; do you know when to use it?

rizzuh: I have another question: why do you insist and making silly weapons sound good? Perhaps you're trying to fool everyone into thinking that the knife is useful. Well, it's not. It used to be useful, but in beta 7 it was smacked with a dabble of uselessness. That's a good thing, because it's only a knife and this is a game about shooting people. With that being said, if you want to risk dying, feel free to stab (alternative fire) a sniper from behind. You should, of course, use the knife as a last resort, but you might try to run and reload while the moron is chasing you.

Half-Pint: Because that's all that silly weapons are good for. Pre-Beta 7 I saw entire teams get killed by the knife, these days it's more like a desperate last resort. I do find that the secondary stab does a fair bit of damage and in close quarters it's faster than switching out to a pistol. I don't advocate killing people with just a knife. That is certifiable. I just think that when your really close it can be more effective than going for the pistol/reloading.

rizzuh: If you're REALLY close with a pistol, it can be hard to hit someone who's hopping around. The knife has a good range (really!), so you can slash them and while the enemy is recovering, back off and give them a few shots to the chest with a man's weapon: the pistol. Sometimes I pull out the knife.

I always mean to pull out my pistol.

Half-Pint: So you're a butter fingers when you draw your gun? Too bad we can't throw the knife, you could actually attack him from a distance with the knife.

rizzuh: I can't imagine that change conflicting with gameplay! Perhaps we should also make the Dual Berettas the default T weapon and rename Counter-Strike to Action Half-Life! Oh me oh my you sure are smart!

USP .45ACP
Half-Pint: When it's got to be shipped to the morgue, send USP. Do you have any idea how hard it is to come up with a good one liner these days? The USP is a solid pistol, best of all it's free as CT. I still haven't figured how useful the silencer is, I don't know if it's good or useless.

rizzuh: I don't know what game you're playing, but the silencer is a nifty tool. It does take away accuracy and power, but the tradeoff is that people really don't know where the hell the shot is coming from. It becomes incredibly quiet at a distance and is useful for that reason.

The default USP, without a silencer, is great also. The USP is an all-around good weapon. If you can't do well with a glock, opt to purchase this instead.

Half-Pint: Hey, I love the silencer on the M4, but I find in the vast majority of pistol whipping situations, everyone can see everyone else and the silencer is a moot point. Yes, it's true that it's quiet from a distance, but while you're "sniping" with your pea shooter your teammates are probably being pounded.

rizzuh: Sometimes I play in "n1nj@ mode". The TMP (which does suck, but is quiet), silenced USP, and the walk key. Sneaking behind an enemy and delivering a silent headshot is an amazing thing, albeit quite rare. When I silence my M4, I silence my USP.

Half-Pint: N1nj@ mode is a fun way to play, but I hate the TMP so I play in Uber-N1nj@ Mode and use the M4.

rizzuh: Understandable. The TMP is a weapon that's fun to kill with, because it's more than a simple twitch. Like the Scout, a TMP won't be effective without a good brain behind it.

This related in no way to the USP. I have trouble following conversations.
