CS2D Commentary by Half-Pint
=LC=Juicy noticed that de_train was number 1 on the list from the recent CS2D
vote. I asked him to give me some commentary on it's creation and that map
itself.
I also noticed that nobody out there seems to be attempting it, so I thought
that I'd give it a go. The structure of the map is easy to convert to 2D as it
has very few overlapping platforms, so it was ideal for me, as this is my first
2D mapping attempt.

Two nuclear payloads are in storage in a train yard. The Counter terrorists
have to try and neutralize the Terrorist threat from a bombing. The two bomb
targets are split between a train yard closed off and the outside track yard
area.
Terrorists basic tactics: It seems that the best way for terrorists to win is
to rush at the CTs in an organized manner. Either rushing straight up the stairs
immediately to the T start's right to get to the enclosed bomb target as soon as
possible. There will most likely be some CT resistance at this point depending
on how the opponents are playing. Another (often frowned on) tactic, is for the
Terrorists to camp at their start with sniper's rifles, shooting all the way
down the corridor to the oncoming CTs. This tactic comes in handy if you're
loosing lots of rounds and want to make the CTs really pissed. :o) If possible,
a last handy tactic would be to get a Terrorist up on the roof of the trains
outside to offer cover for your team to try and get to either of the
targets.
Counter-Terrorist basic tactics: It is easy enough to cover both targets from
the Terrorists if you chose the correct strategy. A key point is that for the
CTs to win, you must stop the Terrorists from getting anywhere near the bomb
targets. Kinda like prevention is the cure. So, stopping the terrorists getting
to the enclosed train yard area by holding your ground in the small corridor at
the upper level (The corridor you get to if you are a CT and you walk straight
up the ramp in the enclosed yard). The second point of defense would be the
small corridor near the Terrorist start. Keeping an eye on that and maybe
enlisting the help of a sniper on the roof of the outside yard area you should
be able to stop any Terrorists trying to get to the targets. If a defensive role
isn't appropriate then rushing the T's can work very well, play them at their
own game by charging at them right from the off and hit them hard before they
have the chance to decide on a route.
