Thursday August 30th, Minor Tweak to CS_PHENOMENON

I made a minor tweak to the first map in sketch pad and replaced his sketch with a new one. He changed the theme up to be a CS mission on a military academy.

Wednesday August 29th, When your sick at home you update :)

I wasn't planning on doing this till Saturday but I'm sick and bored out of my skull so I figure I would pull myself from my bed and update my site with all the new content I can find.

First thing is first, I have opened a new section here at Counter-Strike 2D called "Sketch Pad". This section will showcase the creative ideas people have had for designing maps that haven't actually been made into 3D. I'm hoping this will let all those who aren't so good with WorldCraft sketch out their ideas so that those more in tune with WorldCraft can pick them up and base a 3D map off them. Currently I have only one sketch pad submission entitled CS_PHENOMENON by Greg Young. Greg hopes that someone likes his idea and wants to map it. All I ask is that if any of you WorldCraft junkies use his idea, don't forget to give credit where credit is due.

The next thing, I received a user submission modifying another person's submission. Matthew Sublett has modified the original submission of DE_INFERNO map on this site into this DE_INFERNO_BUILD22 (331kb). As some of you might know this is another version of my favourite map floating around the net and is being used by the Cyberathlete Professional League in skirmishes. So check it out!

I also added a link button for a cool gaming comic site called Penny-Arcade.

Last but not least, I have 3 new Russian translations of my maps for you. These translations were kindly created by Sergej Reznik. These translations are for DE_NUKE, DE_DUST and CS_OFFICE_V1.1. I always love to get my work translated into a new language to give someone out their even greater access to Counter-Strike.

As usual all updates (except sketchpad) can be found in either the COLLECTED WORKS ZIP (4 MEGS) or PDF (3.3 MEGS).

Cheers,

Half-Pint

Tuesday August 28th, A little house cleaning and some news

A little house cleaning to my site. I pushed all of July's news into an archive page and created links on all the sub pages to material that was added in the last month or so.

I have also added a banner link for Radio Gamer.net. A slick site that's worth a look that has gaming news in audio format. Let's see, this week I will be adding a submission that previews what the 1.3 version of Inferno will be like, I should get that up tomorrow night.

I am also working on design ideas to give me site a new look. I'm currently planning on using NetObjects Fusion 5.0 but at this stage it's all very sketchy.

I will also be adding a section over the weekend that will showcase 2D designed maps that don't yet exist in 3D with the goal of possibly giving WorldCraft mappers ideas.

Also, I am in direct contact with Crinity and I am diligently working on a 2D version of his 1.3 CS map DE_TORN. More on this over the weekend. Till then cheers, Half-Pint

Friday August 17th, ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF CS2D!! WOOT!!

OMG, It's been a year since I set up shop as a hosted site for CS-Nation. I started with only a few maps and a badly designed website. Now I have received over 12 Submissions and completed around 13 maps myself and managed to have over 1.6 Million Hits in my first year of operation. I have enjoyed this site a great deal and I don't plan on going anywhere else anytime soon.

I would like to thank a few people who have made this site such a perfect success, firstly I want to thank you for without the enthusiasm of the CS community this site wouldn't have lasted past the first month :) I also want to thank everyone that ever submitted a map to me because I truly value the work that has been done. Finally I want to thank Rizzuh from  CS-Nation, for without him this site would never have been hosted and thousands of clans wouldn't have good tactics :)

I am planning on a few big projects for CS2D's Second Year:

Firstly, I am working on a site re-design. I'm trying to work out something that is a little less "in your face" as Rizzuh put it :) I was hoping to get this done for today but I have been neck deep in work and life related stuff.

Secondly, I want to help out the increasing large number of CPL clans out there by creating a 2D map of there competition map that was made by Narby (de_clan1_mill). This should get done in the next week or so.

Thirdly, I like you am patiently awaiting the next release of CS and I will be updating/adding new maps as changes are made.

So, in short, Thanks for a fantastic year and I'm looking forward to year 2 of Counter-Strike 2D.

Cheers, Half-Pint
