Counter-Strike on the Xbox. Fanboys love it, trolls love to hate it, and Santa hates to lift it with the HUGE XBOX HAHAHA. While it has intriguing new features, and a few maps to boot, does Counter-Strike make the leap onto the console, or will it fall into the chasm of Bargain Bin fodder? Let's dive right into it:

The graphics are much better on the x-box, and the game play is very smooth. My only complaint about it the the fact thay you have to pay every month for x-box live, so you can play internet games. But overall it is just as good, or even better than the pc version.
I agree with you on the gameplay aspect. It felt very smooth and responsive to the controls. As for the graphics, I believe they are a good improvement over the default model set. Custom skins in the community right now, however, are high quality and amazing. Compared to the quality of the custom models churned out of the modeling community, the graphics are mediocre.

Xbox Live! service is just about as expensive as say, your average every-day MMORPG monthly fee, and Xbox Live! is for a wide range of games, spanning various genres, rather than for one game played with a bunch of lonely nerds. Xbox Live! is a godsend for Counter-Strike. The equality and fairness of the gameplay is exceptional. The only negative aspect is that server-side mods, and other goodies are absent.

I was fairly pleased with CSX. I rented it when it came out, and after getting my ass handed to me on a plate, I started doing the ass-handing instead. My only complaint is the weapon models absolutely suck. Some are alright, but some of the textures on the models look rusty and just plain bad. It's definitely playable though, and I'll be buying it for sure. Also, I love how the terrorists on dust are middle Eastern!
I was pretty bad when I started playing for the first time as well. Even in the single-player I was stinking it up. After getting used to the controls and aiming with the crosshair, I was the one doing the ass handling... I mean... ass handing against the bots and on Live! as well.

I thought the gun models looked a little funky but they were an improvement none-the-less. Some are much improved over the default CS skins and models.

As for the Middle Eastern terrorist models... shhhhhhhhhhhhh Rumsfeld is watching...

Its amazing.. the new skins and gameplay with a controller setting make for a completely different gaming experience. The game changed the way you look at counter-strike. And the Voice-Communication only is a good way to keep players connected throughout the game. The new resolution of character models and map details and textures is amazing. This is a great conversion of the game that I enjoy playing very much.
I think the fact that online play is primarily voice comm is a giant step in the right direction for CS. When I was playing I noticed a stronger sense of camaraderie than in your run-of-the-mill servers lately. The controller is surely an... interesting... addition to the game, which adds some intrigue to the gameplay.

The new characters and models is a relative subject, I didn't think they were mind-blowingly amazing, but compared to something, say, modeled by a retarded rhinoceros and a keyboard, they're pretty amazing.

Counter Strike for XBOX is a great game with XBOX live. Too bad it's just a port of Counter Strike with not-very-appealing single player. But, that's counter-strike, a great multiplayer experience.
I was hoping and praying for someone to submit this because it just about encompasses my opinion on CSX. That's what CS has always been, a multi-player experience to be reckoned with. I always felt that the single-player wouldn't be well received, but playable, and playable it is. I can't say I'm a fan of the single player, but it also was not a disappointment, and was more than I thought it would be.

Though I've only played the single player portion of the game i think it's quite good. The bot AI is some of the best I've seen. Some will go on their own and try to be a one man army while the rest will stick in group formation. On the easier difficulty's the bots will seem pretty dumb but on the harder ones like professional they'll run for cover and use short bursts instead of full auto. When they run out of ammo they'll switch to their secondary instead of stand there and reload while being shot at. Overall I think it's a good game even without 2 player split screen and for people who haven't played cs they should try it out and see why this is one of the most played games online.
Ahhh the AI. I thought the easier difficulty settings were close to shooting clowns in a Volkswagen. After cranking the difficulty a little, I soon found myself playing against intelligent and strategic bots. I loved the fact that they aren't super God-Bots that can sense you through walls and always pre-fire and never miss. They play more like actual people, and I was impressed by that aspect of the AI.

I've played CSX, and it's not terribly different than CS for the PC. My friend (who was never very good at it on the PC) swears by the joysticks, which he says are easier to use than a keyboard/mouse combination. I disagree; shooters are just not shooters if you're not WASDing and mousing. Using dual analogs to move and aim doesn't work for me.
Preference really depends on your background. I used to be terrible at WASD / Mouse, from play N64 games like Goldeneye and other shooters on consoles. Eventually I got accustomed to the WASD format and it's second nature now. To be fair, I thought Halo felt weird WASDing rather than using the dual analogs, purely because it was a console shooter. So it really depends on the console or origin for the appropriate control scheme.

I have been waiting for 2 and a half years now for this game and since it came out im sorry to say it but i havent touched the Computer Counter-Strike =/ This game is great because i have the worst connection in the world im surprised its called cable, but despite thta LIVE and cs works great. The textures are great although you guys couold have spent more time on the details with the men but i couldnt care less because from a foot the details look great. the gameplay is smooth and really fast pasted ive managed to set a clan and its easy to practice, i guarantee this game will be in the coming CPL`s and finally i will be the best player in Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike for the Xbox. Overall this game is not good like the options you asked in the topic its LEET > GREAT OWNAGE!

This port's biggest attraction will be for people with a terrible broadband connection, since not all cable and DSL providers are blazing fast. Also playing CS online can be difficult when you're outside of North America, due to the fact that most servers are American. So on Live!, everyone has relatively the same connection speed and it adds a new degree of fairness into the gameplay. Some of the textures are a little bland but I don't like the idea of giving the Men additional detail. I don't know what you're looking for here but I don't want to see Counter-Terrorists running around on de_dust with scrotums a-bouncing. With the proper physics to boot.

Put it on your Christmas list...

When i first started playing i was amazed by the graphical improvements to everything. But that was about it, first of all i was very disappointed when i found out that i couldn't plug in another hand controller and play it 1 on 1, with a friend, but i had to connect my xbox to other xboxes which is really inconvenient (i mean who the hell goes to lans with their xboxes??) And anyway the disappointment's came running down the road like a horny terrorist, well you cant buy a riot shield in the single player mode, you cant customize your own hand-controller, and the worst thing of all is the voice commands - some of them sound like chipmunks.
Biggest Disappointment Ever: NO MULTIPLAYER

Say what you will about Xbox Live!, but my Live! experience did not compare to plugging in with some pals and playing head-to-head. I didn't want the riot shield to be available for purchase in the first place, I thought it would detract from the "old" Counter-Strike feel that this port has, even though the FAMAS and Galil are present.

Second Biggest Disappointment: NO CUSTOMIZABLE CONTROLS

I agree with all of your point whole-heartedly. I could not believe that I could not customize my controller, and had to make do with the Halo-esque control scheme.

I felt the game overall was good. But i just could not work very well with the joystick instead of a keyboard.
Also some maps are very one sided. For instance "Miami" it has only one entrance. (unless there was more but i did not see).

I liked the different terrorists and CTs for different places. I also enjoyed some of the new maps.

In overall it is a good game, but i can't to play it on PC.
I liked the new map additions, and I liked the way I was able to get maps on Xbox Live! as well. Miami, in my opinion, is a good map with a small balance problem but it can be overcome.

I thought it was somewhat cool that there were level specific player models but how much of a super-wow-awesome-ejaculate-in-pants addition is that? It's not something difficult, or revolutionary. Those of us with minmodels online are always seeing the L337 Kr3w fighting the French... so I care if they are map specific.

horrible. counter-strike belongs to PC not suXBOX. plain and simple, microsoft just leeching money, only plebs and noobs prolly bought it. bill gates can kiss meh ass.
I just thought I'd throw this in here to include the token LOL XBOX SUX DIE MICRO$OFT response. Someone please find this fine, young, gentleboy and put a fist in his face.

Since I have... umm... troubles.. leaving the state and really my own home. Apologies to the Krandall Family, I will stay away from your luscious daughter from now on...

Well that about wraps up this delicious installment of public opinion and failed humor. I believe this port has the potential to become a true hit, whereas many, many, many of you seem to think that Micro$oft (I used an $ instead of an S lololol) is trying to cash in on our Internet addictions and should be stopped at all costs, while not mentioning CSX in any way. WHOA! I throughly enjoyed my CSX experience and I hope it encourages all of you to go an make one for yourself. I leave you all with a summary of the deliciously tender morsels of intelligence we received for this mailbag. A collage of stupidity if you will:

HAHA XBOX IS HUGE DONT HURT URSELF SANTA!! MICRO$HIT IS TRYING TO KILL U
