Every other week we have a mailbag about what you'd like to have added to CS. This week's topic is the same thing. If you were the king of Counter-Strike, what new server-side or client variables would you add?

the first thing i would do as king of cs would be to make bunny hopping a variable. although most people would groan at this, as i used to do, after playing on bunny servers like i normally do now, and actually learning to bunny, i realize that making it a server variable would appeal to many. although not hard to learn, bunnying is quite hard to master. and of course, with all variables, you could just turn it off on servers where the admin did not want it.
What a brilliant idea! We should make every gameplay aspect of Counter-Strike a variable. For example, we could have mp_buyguns. If it's set to 0, off, then you will automatically get a free AWP, AK, or M4A1. Also, mp_highdamage will allow you to lower the damage for all guns so that the game plays more like Team Fortress. Finally, mp_gamename can be customized to "Quake III," "Unreal Tournament" or even "Dumb Bitch's Crappy Game."

Sorry chief, but you can't make every single CS server have a different set of arbitrary gameplay rules. You are a horrible king and I wish to see you abdicate your title.

Id make a lot of server variables. Id make every player able to disguise themselves as the other team, like the spy does in TFC. That would make for some interesting gameplay. Also i would give clients the option to turn their knife into a lightsaber. I think more people would use that instead of a regular gun. And I would give the hostages the ability to fight back. So now whenever the terrorists try to interrogate the scientists, they dont give in easily but instead start attacking the terrorists. Of course I would make the penalty for killing a hostage immediate death.
First of all, you would be an incredible aid to the AdminMod community that is obsessed with crappy ideas like lightsaber battles or non-playing characters kicking the living shit out of you because apparently these aren't just ordinary scientists: they've got an attitude.

As for your spies idea, I'm pretty sure this reality would be as fun as eating a soy "hamburger." CS rounds last for 5 minutes, I don't think that's proper time to infiltrate and deceive.

If I were king, I would enable a "drunken stupor" mode, where everyone stumbled around and coulden't aim worth crap. It would finally put players at my level of Counter-Strike playing ability (All sound would be either turned off completely, or just play random .wav files in the CS directory)

I would simply add the option to take the Richochet mod tech and add it to CS, making it possible for bullets to reflect off walls. That, my firend, would be called sv_drage 1.
Might be nice, but bullets in real life don't reflect off at the same angle they hit like they do in VALVe's mod. Anyway I'm sure some fancy materials referencing can get ricocheting down to a science, but do you really want to be by a bullet that come from nowhere? It's so annoying when you get hit by a stray bullet. Trust me, I live in the hood!

i would like a mix up of weapons like with the rollthedice option on some servers only it would switch around the amount of weapon points a gun can use. like you could be using a tmp but then maybe get the power of ak bullets, and with out the ak recoil and it wouldnt slow down the rate of fire. or maybe the firing mode of some gunsbe put on others, awp with tmp rate of fire. and some of the bad things maybe that the awp now only shoots like a glock. or the m4 needs the steadiness of the awp to fire.
I can't see what could go wrong with an AWP-TMP hybrid! Also, please stab me multiple times in the heart if this idea is ever implemented. Thanks.

i would make a choice off if you were a t and were on a hostage map you could ask the ct's a ransom, like in real life(and yes i know cs iz a game) t's asks for ransoms. owwww wells thats all .
Woah, you know CS is a game. You're ahead of the pack on this one! Also, your idea is great. We could shoot people, but why have fun when we can just type "yes" and pay the ransom and then have the round end?

If I was king of CS I would turn FF on and have team damage hurt triple what normal damage does. I would then have the only option for TK revenge set to turn the TKer into a chicken. Thus servers all across the world would be filled with poorly animated super chickens. Muwahaha!
On a side note, I think the AdminMod FF stuff is one of the best things about AdminMod. Slaying a TK'er is so much fun that I don't even care that I'm spending my time in CS pressing 1 and 2 rather than firing guns.

If I was the king of Counter-Strike, I would allow the option of the client to be blocked from the infamous execclient. I cant tell you how many times Ive seen admins abuse that power by changing innocent clients controls or making them say untrue things.
I agree that execclient is retarded as hell. For those who don't know, execclient allows admins using AdminMod to basically run any command on your game. They can screw up your controls, screw up your settings, or force you to quit the game. I don't know if it's enabled by AdminMod or via a plug-in, but the functionality should be removed completely if you ask me. There are very few legitimate uses.

1.3 jumping/pistol accuracy. mp_1.3mode 1 would do it. That was the easy answer, but its really what i would add. They will never go back to the old gameplay, and its a damn shame(how many threads have there been on the CAL/DOG forums about this??).
Although this has already been suggested I want to remind people that it is still stupid from a couple of minutes ago.

By the way, if we let the CAL and DOG forums control everything, Funk would be banned from Counter-Strike, the AWP would kill everyone instantly no matter where you aimed it, and the USP would be so powerful and accurate that it would take over half of Europe in three weeks.

Everything I heard about CS 1.4's new jumping ruining the game mainly boiled down to slowing the game down and having everyone die instantly. Was this true at the CPL a few weeks ago? Maybe in a few matches, but certainly not in the finale. Rounds went by at a steady pace and there were plenty of long firefights. The only difference is that one person now has absolutely no chance against five people because duck jumping three times doesn't automatically turn you into a Jesus that repels bullets anymore.
