CS-Nation's Sublyme: It's apparent that right now SK is dominating the competitive CS world. Obviously, 3D holds a close second. Is it merely the fact that the skill gap is getting closer in CS, or were there crucial mistakes 3D made in their most recent games against SK?
Team 3D's Dave "moto" Geffon: I think every time we've played SK it has been a close game, they are a very good team and I always look forward to playing them because I know we're in for a tough match. I think we're fairly close to SK in terms of our skill and teamwork, but I've felt in the past they've made less mistakes when we've played and when you have two teams that are that close, that's all it takes usually.CS-Nation: Who are some up-and-coming teams you can spot on the horizon? Obviously, most people are eying the newly-formed NoA and Adrenaline[GX], although the argument could be made that they're already a top-team.
moto: It's hard to say who the "up and coming" teams are. There are so many teams out there with the potential to win, it's just a matter of which teams can do all the things necessary to win on that day. I think Adrenaline will make another good showing this CPL as well as other teams such as Gamepoint, Forsaken and e7.CS-Nation: Members of 3D have made, based on my calculations, over $300,000 playing Counter-Strike. What have you done with your portion of winnings over the years?
moto: I saved a lot of my winnings and still have quite a bit saved but I've used a bit of it to support myself financially during this time. The first significant purchase I've made though was buying my car, a 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra.CS-Nation: I understand you will be bootcamping with top teams the week prior to the CPL. Please elaborate, for our readers, the specifics of this.
moto: We've been bootcamping here in Dallas, Texas since Friday, December 5th. The best way to describe what we do in bootcamp is to compare it to a study session before a mid-term or a final. It's a time to get together and review everything we know and have learned since our last major event, as well as practice it to refresh our memory.CS-Nation: How do you envision this upcoming CPL event? Specifically, will it be one of disappointments, upsets, or a nice mix of both?
moto: There really is no way to tell. Usually it's just a mix of both, some teams come to play and can walk away with an upset over a major team and other favored teams could not be on their game. For a lack of better words, "shit happens".
