interview: echo7
Echo7 turned heads at the CPL by placing sixth and taking home $10,000. Sixth in the world is a far stretch from barely breaking 10th in the U.S. It was natural to assume the Echo7 wouldn't do much at the CPL event, but their high finish—the first American team behind all-stars 3D—landed e7 a lot of praise.

CS-Nation's esports reporter Sublyme had a change to speak with Echo7's s1M0nz (Hal Turpin) and SpYdeR (Josh Restuccio).

CS-Nation's Sublyme: Echo7 has had quite a few roster overhauls since it's humble cal-main days. What about your current roster sets e7 apart from the former one that got the team into cal-invite?
Echo7's s1M0nz (Hal Turpin): me and enigma (oldest members) have been in e7 since e7's first cali season. 3 seasons later I realized all the e/z money we could win at cpl so I formed the Local Georgia e7 you know today.

Echo7's SpYdeR (Josh Restuccio): I just joined echo-7 last cal season so I can't really comment on any of the previous rosters, I knew beerz and enigma that was it.
CS-Nation: You obviously went into the cpl shooting for as far as you could get and you made it. However, did you have any idea your success would be as overwhelming as it was?
s1M0nz: it was extremly overwhelming! we couldn't stop winning =P

SpYdeR: I always knew we had the ability to place very highly it was just a matter of playing our best when it counts.
CS-Nation: It's said that e7 got a quite a bit of scrimming done at the cpl bootcamp. Did you have as much success in scrims as you did in the tournament, or did you just take the other teams by surprise?
s1M0nz: bootcamp was hard work, but it all paid off. =]

SpYdeR: Scrimming at the bootcamp helped us a lot, before bootcamp dust2 was our weakest map by far which was seen at killerlan when we were defeated by TAU and Hatclan. After discussing the map and trying out different strategies I would put dust2 as one of our best maps along with train.
